Running water creates energy which can be captured and turned into electricity. That is called hydro energy. The most often met hydro energy plants use a dam built on a river to keep the water in a reservoir. The water released from the reservoir flows through a turbine which rotates, which on its part activates the generator that produces electricity. But the hydro energy does not always need a big dam. Some hydro energy plants just use a small canal to canalize the water from the rivers through the turbines. |
